Reconnecting with Sarah, @thecoastalyogi

It's amazing how much you can accomplish in a short amount of time. It was only two years ago Sarah and I were beginning new chapters in our lives. I had just left my job with the San Diego Padres and started getting into photography. Sarah (who I met while working at the Padres) had just started teaching Yoga. Lucky for me, Sarah was willing to be one of my first guinea pigs. We shot together on several occasions, and you can take a trip back in time to read my blog posts about it here and here.

Fast forward to today and Sarah and I have continued along our paths. I left my last full time marketing job to focus on photography and Sarah is a Core Power Yoga Instructor in Boston and runs an incredible account in Instagram as @thecoastalyogi.

When Sarah mentioned she would be paying the west coast a visit a couple weeks ago, it was a no-brainer to shoot. I couldn't wait to catch up and I also couldn't wait to shoot some Yoga again. It had been quite a while, and Sarah is such a flexible model to work with (pun intended).

Sarah wanted to shoot at the cliffs of Windansea Beach in La Jolla, and I was quick to agree. Windansea is one of my go to spots in San Diego. It's one of the few beaches with beautiful rock features and coarse sand.

It took only a minute to get back in the groove and Sarah made my job very easy. My general workflow for Yoga is to have the model work through a series of their favorite poses and I will simply shoot from different angles. When a particular pose or composition inspires me, we pause to make sure we fully capture it.

I had an amazing time shooting with Sarah, but the best part was being able to reflect with her on the past couple years. Following her journey is energizing and inspires me to continues to push forward with mine.
